Inspired by Tamany Baker’s photographic series ‘Living With Wolfie’, my poem is a eulogy to a garden bird. The bird has a rich history in symbolism, and in this context can be seen to symbolise the flight of man’s soul from the physicality of the body. Liberation- A FALLING THROUGH, 2010 [...]

The cycle of life is perfectly expressed in the iconic sunflower, which produces seeds from which it is later ‘reborn’. In the Sunflower the seeds grow from the centre outwards, turning slightly with the growth of each new cell. This results in a spiral that perfectly matches a mathematical pattern known [...] 
The Ferryman is a subtle acknowledgment to the beautiful novel ‘Siddhartha’ by Hermann Hesse, in which Siddhartha, a Brahmin’s son, departs on a life-long journey of self-discovery, eventually meeting an old ferryman with whom he learns the secrets of the river; that which is everywhere and nowhere all at the same [...] 
The lotus flower rests amidst the stillness of the water, without worry or concern, just being moment by moment. This particular flower is an important symbol in Buddhism, signifying spiritual enlightenment, the personal journey to Satori and ultimately Nirvana. A quietness of heart and a stillness in dreams.
