I imagined an infinite plain of words, interconnected and relevant. A vastness stretching beyond distance, all-encompassing and bounded by nothing. Perhaps technology will one-day allow me to achieve an approximation of this vision, but for now I wanted to build what I call a ‘Mind Field’ of identity related words. This page will be expanded over time, and it should be seen as an accompaniment to my Identity Mind Map, and the basis for my work on a greatly expanded version.
The words are written with as little conscious attention as possible, allowing word associations to prevail and non-linear connections to give new perspectives on identity in the context of fine art. Colour is used to show conscious associations along with interesting patterns found upon further analysis of the field. This is my completely ad-hoc approach to finding new perspectives through language, please let me know if you know of any similar methodologies combining words, colour, geographical location and subconscious associations.
This isn’t just a bunch of words. It has meaning, Everything we do has meaning, even the meaningless (meaning)less. The patterns are what bind us, connecting the disparate elements of ‘I’ into a coherent structure of data. WE ARE INFORMATION IN A FIELD OF THE INFINITE.
